Ramakrishna Math, Dhaka, Bangladesh, celebrated Sri Sri Durga Puja with usual solemnity, festivity, and spiritual fervor like the previous years. Both the physical and the virtual presence of the devotees were abundant. The entire program was streamed live.
On the Panchami tithi ‘Bodhan’ took place in the presence of devotees when the delegates from USA Embassy, Dhaka visited the Dhaka Math Durga temple.
The Puja on the Shashthi and Saptami days were held in the spontaneous participation of the devotees of Dhaka and other parts of the country. The weather was more or less congenial for the devotees throughout all the puja days. The sky was more or less sunny with however a few bouts of showers in between.
On the Shasti day, In the evening, Metropolitan Police Commissioner and Traffic police commissioner of Dhaka arrived along with top officials.
On Saptami Tithi, Sri Debottam Sanyal, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Planning, Govt. of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh offered Pushpanjali before the deity accompanied by his wife and other family members.
In addition, Colonel Dr. Dilip Roy of Bangladesh Armed Force and his family members visited Dhaka Math on that evening.On the day of Ashtami,
Mr. Pranay Kumar Verma, the Hon’ble High Commissioner of India in Bangladesh visited Dhaka Math along with his wife and senior officials of the Office of High Commission. They offered Pushpanjali to the deity and then took part in lunch prasad.
During the Kumari Puja about 15,000 devotees were present. In the evening after the evening prayer Dr. A F M Khalid Hussain, Hon’ble Advisor, Ministry of Religious Affairs came to Dhaka Math along with his officials to exchange greetings on the occasion of celebrating Sri Sri Durga Puja.
On the Navami day, Ambassador of the Vatican City in Dhaka, Bangladesh visited Dhaka Math in the morning. In the afternoon, several teachers of the University of Dhaka and the North-South University came to see Durga Puja at Dhaka Math. On the same day the leaders of different political parties visited Dhaka Math and exchanged greetings to the devotees.
Law enforcement and Para Military forces were deployed to maintain law and order and to supervise the other security arrangements during the Puja. Nothing untoward happened throughout the Puja days. On the Dashami day, immersion took place in the pond of our campus as on earlier occasions, and Shantijal ceremony was held in the presence of more than five thousand devotees.
Such a crowed was not seen ever at our Puja campus.
All the news media covered our programmes widely.
In total more than 50,000 devotees took Kichudi prasad during the days of the Puja.
